We’ll explore some of the facts and misconceptions surrounding this question below and figure out if WhatsApp becoming a paid app In 2022? Really? Is it going to require a payment fee in 2022? Since its creation in 2009, WhatsApp has grown from a small tool used by two people to communicate to something much larger – it’s now used by more than two billion people worldwide, making it one of the most popular messaging platforms in existence today. Even though the application has become so ubiquitous around the world, there are still some questions surrounding its future, with the biggest being whether or not it will eventually become a paid application.
A History of WhatsApp
Whatsapp was founded by Jan Koum and Brian Acton. The two were former employees of Yahoo, who had quit their jobs to build something new. They founded WhatsApp in 2009 and joined forces with another entrepreneur named Igor Solomennikov. Though Koum was born and raised in Ukraine, he moved to California at age 16 and got his green card when he turned 21. He went on to attend San Jose State University where he studied computer science. At one point, he even worked for Apple as an engineer. In 2014, Facebook acquired WhatsApp for $19 billion in cash and stock. It was Facebook’s largest acquisition ever at that time.

Why Facebook Bought WhatsApp
It wasn’t about payments, it was about data. When Facebook acquired messaging platform WhatsApp for $19 billion, many people were left wondering why. Was it to acquire talent? Was it just to move into an adjacent industry? Or was there another reason? Based on what we know now, I’d argue that Facebook bought WhatsApp because they wanted access to their data—not just user data but transactional data as well.

The acquisition of Whatsapp for $19 billion was the wisest decision Facebook ever made. I’ll keep it brief. They gather your data, learn about your interests, and market products to you through their ads. Don’t be afraid to attempt it. On Whatsapp, have a conversation about getting new Nike T-shirts with someone. You’ll be pleasantly surprised to find deals on Nike T-shirts from Amazon or other marketplaces the very following day. However, that’s a discussion for another day. Now Let’s find out Is is Whatsapp going to be a paid app in 2022?
WhatsApp Becoming a Paid App in 2022? | Is Whatsapp Going to Be A Paid App?
Whatsapp seems to have working on a paid subscription model for its Whatsapp Business users. They are working on a telegram alike feature which is multi-device support.
Presently WhatsApp messenger allows all users to log into 4 devices simultaneously including the WhatsApp web( WhatsApp desktop ) in both WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business accounts. But for the business use cases in mind, this limit may not suffice the requirements. Whatsapp Business has gained huge popularity from people all around the world after its introduction into the play store.

But for business owners to interact or exchange WhatsApp messages with a huge customer base at times only 4 devices may not be enough. A lot of employees may be assigned tasks to handle customer queries, orders and faqs. So there is a need that more devices can be connected to the same WhatsApp account at the same time, which means the same number to be used to log in to multiple devices (preferably more than 4 in future including Whatsapp desktop) by all the employees in customer handling department to resolve customer queries.

According to a report by wabetainfo, the paid plan will allow Whatsapp business users to log in to WhatsApp on 10 devices simultaneously. This feature upgrade will heavily benefit the business users to handle customers as more employees can stay connected to the same WhatsApp account and can send WhatsApp messages from the same business number linked with the account.
According to speculations, this feature will only be available to WhatsApp business accounts and not for WhatsApp regular users( Regular WhatsApp web app ). It’s worth noting that just because WhatsApp is working on a subscription plan doesn’t mean you’ll have to pay to use it when it’s ready: nothing changes for users, and the service will always be free to use.

The subscription plan entirely depends on the user if he/she wants to opt for it, as it provides additional features to business accounts, similar to Twitter Blue on Twitter. So far we don’t know the cost of this paid subscription plan. We don’t know yet if it will be a one time charge or a recurring one. But we always would expect meta to add more features on the paid plans of Whatsapp messenger so that users can get more out of this meta owned messaging app.
